Synopsis /
Along the Western Front in Northern France, the German army appears to have retreated. However, aerial reconnaissance reveals it is a strategic trap: they are waiting to ambush the British 2nd Battalion. With all field telephone lines cut, two young lance corporals, Blake and Schofield, are assigned a near-impossible mission. They must cross “No Man’s Land” and deep into enemy territory on foot to deliver a handwritten order to call off the dawn attack. If they fail, 1,600 men—including Blake’s own brother—will march into a massacre. Captured in what appears to be a single, continuous shot, the film follows their grueling journey through collapsing trenches, bombed-out ruins, and treacherous rivers.
