Our Mission
365 Days, 365 Films connects commemorative days with cinema to make society visible through storytelling.
We believe that complex themes—robot ethics, social justice, environmental challenges, human rights—are often difficult to grasp through words alone. But when you’ve seen a film that explores these ideas, suddenly they become real, tangible, and shared.
Our goal is to create a common language through cinema. When people across the world have watched the same films, we can discuss the most challenging topics with deeper understanding and empathy. That’s why we publish in both English and Japanese—to build bridges between cultures and perspectives.

What We Do
Every day of the year has meaning. From Global Family Day (January 1) to Isaac Asimov’s Birthday (January 2), from World Logic Day (January 14) to countless other commemorations—each date offers an opportunity to reflect on our world through cinema.
We pair each commemorative day with a carefully selected film that resonates with its themes. Then, we write in-depth reviews (8,000-10,000 words) that explore:
- Historical and cultural context – How the film connects to real-world events and movements
- Social themes – Environmental justice, technological ethics, human dignity, and more
- Cinematic craftsmanship – Direction, cinematography, sound design, performance
- Why it matters today – The film’s relevance to contemporary challenges
Our reviews aren’t just summaries. They’re explorations of how cinema helps us understand ourselves and our society.

Why Films?
Film is the universal language of emotion and experience. A single scene can convey what a thousand-page treatise cannot. When we watch WALL-E, we don’t just learn about environmental destruction—we feel the loneliness of an abandoned Earth. When we watch Big Hero 6, we don’t just understand robot ethics—we experience what it means for technology to care.
