Carl Casper was once Food & Wine’s “Best New Chef,” but now he’s trapped in a prestigious Los Angeles restaurant serving the same safe menu night after night. When controlling owner Riva refuses to let Carl cook his innovative dishes for influential food blogger Ramsey Michel, Carl reluctantly serves boring classics—and gets destroyed in a scathing review. Unfamiliar with Twitter, Carl accidentally turns a private response into a public meltdown that goes viral, costing him his job and dignity. Broke and humiliated, Carl travels to Miami where his ex-wife Inez gifts him a decrepit food truck. With best friend Martin, his 10-year-old son Percy, and a renewed passion for cooking, Carl transforms the truck into a Cuban sandwich sensation. As they road-trip from Miami through New Orleans to Los Angeles, Carl rediscovers his love for food, reconnects with Percy through Twitter and kitchen banter, and learns that creative freedom matters more than Michelin stars. Food isn’t just about feeding people—it’s about feeding your soul.
