In 1963, Ford is losing the youth market to sleeker European sports cars—particularly Ferrari. After Enzo Ferrari humiliates Ford executives during failed merger talks, Henry Ford II declares war: Ford will beat Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the world’s most prestigious endurance race that Ferrari has dominated for years. To do the impossible, Ford recruits maverick car designer Carroll Shelby and brilliant but volatile British driver Ken Miles. What follows is a clash of cultures: American corporate bureaucracy versus racing purity, accountants versus artists, safe bets versus dangerous genius. As Shelby and Miles build the legendary Ford GT40 and push it—and themselves—to the absolute limit, they discover that winning Le Mans requires more than just a fast car. It demands risking everything for seven thousand RPM of pure speed.
