[English] Greta Celeste Gerwig is an American actress, screenwriter, and director who has become one of the most influential filmmakers of her generation. After studying English and philosophy at Barnard College, Gerwig became a key figure in the “mumblecore” independent film movement with Hannah Takes the Stairs (2007) and Nights and Weekends (2008), which she co-wrote and co-directed with Joe Swanberg. She gained mainstream recognition with Greenberg (2010) and achieved critical acclaim for Frances Ha (2012), which she co-wrote with Noah Baumbach and earned a Golden Globe nomination.
