[English] Marjane Satrapi is a celebrated Iranian-French graphic novelist and filmmaker, globally recognized for her autobiographical masterpiece, Persepolis. After coming of age in Tehran during the Islamic Revolution and the Iran-Iraq War, she moved to Europe at 14, eventually studying illustration in Strasbourg. Persepolis became an international sensation, leading to its 2007 animated film adaptation which won the Jury Prize at Cannes. Beyond animation, Satrapi has directed diverse live-action films such as The Voices and Radioactive. A fearless voice for women’s rights and a fierce critic of authoritarianism, she is defined by her bold visual style and sharp political wit.

イランのラシュトに生まれ、革命と戦争下のテヘランで多感な時期を過ごした後、14歳でヨーロッパへ移住。ストラスブール装飾美術学校でイラストレーションを学び、児童書の挿絵画家を経て制作した『ペルセポリス』は、40以上の言語に翻訳される大ベストセラーとなりました。2007年には同作を自らアニメ映画化（ヴァンサン・パロノーと共同監督）し、カンヌ国際映画祭審査員賞の受賞やアカデミー賞ノミネートを果たすなど、映画界でも脚光を浴びます。
