Synopsis /

[English / 英語] Leonard Shelby (Guy Pearce) suffers from anterograde amnesia following a traumatic head injury, leaving him unable to form any new memories. To navigate a world that resets every few minutes, he constructs an intricate external memory system using Polaroid photos, handwritten notes, and facts tattooed directly onto his body. His singular mission is to hunt down “John G.,” the man he believes murdered his wife. However, his sensory isolation makes him easy prey for those around him: Natalie (Carrie-Anne Moss), a woman with her own agenda, and Teddy (Joe Pantoliano), a frantic detective whose motives are constantly in question. The film asks: What remains of human identity when the narrative of the self is deleted? Can a damaged mind ever grasp an objective truth? And is the reality of a memory-impaired patient a tragedy, or a self-inflicted cycle of vengeance?
