Synopsis / あらすじ

[English / 英語] In 1967, Chris Taylor (Charlie Sheen), a young college dropout, volunteers for the U.S. Army and is deployed to the harsh jungles of Vietnam. Upon arrival, he finds his platoon deeply divided between two conflicting leadership styles: the humane and soulful Sergeant Elias (Willem Dafoe) and the scarred, ruthless Sergeant Barnes (Tom Berenger). Following a brutal incident in a local village, the tension between the two sergeants escalates into a private war within the unit. When Barnes betrays and kills Elias during a chaotic firefight, Chris is forced to confront the darkness in his own heart. The film asks: What is the visceral, unvarnished truth of war? Does “humanity” have a place on the battlefield? and what is the permanent psychological weight of the memories a veteran must carry home?
