Beginning his career as an actor, Reiner gained fame playing Michael “Meathead” Stivic on the groundbreaking sitcom All in the Family (1971-1979), winning two Emmy Awards. Transitioning to directing in 1984 with the mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap, Reiner established an extraordinary track record with an unprecedented streak of critical and commercial successes including The Sure Thing (1985), Stand by Me (1986), The Princess Bride (1987), When Harry Met Sally… (1989), Misery (1990), A Few Good Men (1992), and The American President (1995).
