Synopsis /
[English / 英語] Grace, a resilient 20-something supervisor at “Short Term 12″—a transitional facility for at-risk teenagers—dedicates her life to supporting youth struggling with abuse, neglect, and mental health crises. Alongside her compassionate boyfriend and colleague, Mason, she maintains a delicate balance within the facility’s chaotic daily life. However, Grace’s professional composure masks a deep-seated trauma from her own history of sexual abuse, which she keeps hidden even from those closest to her. The arrival of Jayden, a talented but profoundly guarded girl, disrupts Grace’s carefully constructed walls. Seeing a mirror of her younger self in Jayden’s rebellion, Grace is forced to confront her own unprocessed wounds. The film poses essential questions: Can those who are still hurting truly provide strength to others? What does real healing look like in a broken system? And what is the true nature of human solidarity?
