[English] Peter Spierig and Michael Spierig, known collectively as the Spierig Brothers, are German-Australian identical twin filmmakers specializing in genre cinema, particularly science fiction and horror. Born in Germany and raised in Australia from age 4, the brothers pooled their life savings to make their debut feature Undead (2003), a low-budget zombie horror-comedy that won them international acclaim and cult status. They are best known for Predestination (2014), a mind-bending sci-fi thriller based on Robert A. Heinlein’s short story, and Jigsaw (2017), the eighth installment in the Saw franchise. The Spierigs are versatile filmmakers who handle multiple roles including directing, writing, editing, visual effects, and composing. Their films are characterized by ambitious concepts executed with meticulous craft despite often modest budgets.
