[English] Taichi Ishidate is a core director at Kyoto Animation, renowned for his breathtaking visual artistry and emotional depth. After contributing as a key animator and episode director to hits like The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and K-ON!, he made his series directorial debut with Beyond the Boundary (2013). His career-defining masterpiece, Violet Evergarden (2018–2020), earned international acclaim and the Japan Academy Film Prize for its poignant storytelling. Known for his meticulous attention to character expressions—especially the “sparkle in the eyes”—Ishidate excels at balancing delicate drama with dynamic action. His latest work is CITY THE ANIMATION (2025).
