[English] Shelton Jackson “Spike” Lee is an American film director, producer, screenwriter, and actor. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential and essential filmmakers in cinema history, particularly for his exploration of race relations, urban life, and social issues in America. Lee studied filmmaking at Morehouse College and New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where his student film won a Student Academy Award. He founded the production company 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks and has produced more than 35 films. His landmark film Do the Right Thing (1989) is considered one of the greatest films ever made, and BlacKkKlansman (2018) won him his first competitive Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
