Synopsis /
English (Short Synopsis)
Desmond Doss, a young man driven by a profound religious conviction, enlists in the U.S. Army during WWII as a combat medic—but with a radical condition: he refuses to touch a weapon. Branded a coward and harassed by his fellow soldiers and superiors, Desmond faces a court-martial to defend his right to serve without killing. After a grueling struggle for his principles, he is finally deployed to Okinawa in 1945. There, his unit is ordered to take the “Maeda Escarpment,” a terrifying 400-foot cliffside nicknamed “Hacksaw Ridge.” Armed with nothing but his faith and a first-aid kit, Desmond stands at the edge of a literal hell, ready to face a battle where his survival depends on the very conviction that made him a pariah.
