Synopsis / あらすじ
English (Short Synopsis)
1978, Tehran. Eight-year-old Marji is a precocious girl who dreams of becoming a prophet and adores her intellectual, progressive family. Her world is transformed by the Iranian Revolution, which initially promises liberation but soon gives way to a restrictive fundamentalist regime. As the Iran-Iraq War erupts and morality police begin patrolling the streets, Marji’s rebellious spirit—fueled by punk rock and a love for freedom—puts her in increasing danger. At 14, her parents make the heart-wrenching decision to send her alone to Vienna, marking the beginning of a life-long journey between exile and the search for identity.
