Synopsis / あらすじ
[English / 英語] Thelma is a housewife trapped in a marriage with a controlling husband. Louise is a sharp-witted waitress with a past she refuses to discuss. Seeking a small act of freedom, they leave Arkansas for a weekend getaway, but their trip takes a dark turn at a roadside bar. When a man follows Thelma into the parking lot and attempts to rape her, Louise shoots him dead. Knowing the legal system will never tell the story in their favor, the two women choose flight over surrender. Pursued by an FBI task force and the Arkansas police, they race across the American Southwest in a 1966 Ford Thunderbird convertible with the top down. As the landscape opens up into vast, majestic horizons, so do Thelma and Louise—transforming into versions of themselves the world has never permitted them to be.
