Synopsis / あらすじ
English (Short Synopsis) Hae-jun, a meticulous detective plagued by chronic insomnia, begins investigating the mysterious death of a man fallen from a mountain peak. The prime suspect is the victim’s enigmatic Chinese widow, Seo-rae. As he watches her from the shadows, Hae-jun finds himself drawn into her orbit, mesmerized by her calm and her fragmented Korean. Their bond blurs the line between detective and suspect, hunter and prey. When a second death occurs a year later in a coastal city, the investigation reignites. In Park Chan-wook’s masterwork, love is not a sanctuary—it is a dangerous obsession that consumes both the pursuer and the pursued.
日本語 (簡潔なあらすじ) 慢性的な不眠症に悩む几帳面な刑事ヘジュンは、山頂から転落死した男の事件を追うなかで、被害者の妻である中国人女性ソレと出会います。夫の死にも動揺を見せない彼女を疑い、夜通しの張り込みを続けるヘジュンでしたが、次第にその静かな佇まいと、どこかぎこちない韓国語の響きに狂おしく惹かれていきます。
刑事と容疑者、追う者と追われる者。暗闇の中で互いを見つめる二人の境界線は、次第に曖昧に溶け合っていきます。事件が解決を見た1年後、霧に包まれた海辺の町で再び発生した殺人事件が、二人を再会させます。パク・チャヌク監督が描くこの陶酔的なスリラーにおいて、愛は安らぎではなく、理性を蝕む最も危険な「捜査」へと変貌していくのです。
