[English] Gregor Justin “Gore” Verbinski is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer known for his visually imaginative blockbusters and genre versatility. After studying at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, Verbinski began his career directing music videos and commercials, winning four Clio Awards. He made his feature directorial debut with the dark comedy Mouse Hunt (1997). Verbinski achieved massive commercial success directing the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003), Dead Man’s Chest (2006), and At World’s End (2007), which collectively grossed over $2.7 billion worldwide and revitalized the pirate genre. Between the sequels, he directed the horror remake The Ring (2002), which became the highest-grossing horror remake in U.S. history with $249 million.
