June 5, 1971, Boston) is an American actor, producer, and businessman, one of Hollywood’s most bankable and versatile leading men, equally at home in prestige dramas, broad comedies, and action blockbusters. The youngest of nine children in a working-class Boston family — and the younger brother of New Kids on the Block singer Donnie Wahlberg — he first found fame in music in the early 1990s as “Marky Mark,” frontman of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, and as a Calvin Klein underwear model, before turning to acting.

After his film debut in Renaissance Man (1994) and a first starring role in the thriller Fear (1996), Wahlberg achieved artistic recognition with a breakthrough performance as rising adult-film star Dirk Diggler in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Boogie Nights (1997).
